Job summary

Network Plus in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Trainee Traffic Management Operative to work on traffic management schemes and gain hands-on experience while training alongside qualified operatives.

The role offers training to upskill within GTM, with a competitive salary (£33,046 - £36,351 per year) and overtime opportunities; a UK driving license is required.

You will learn risk assessments, safe methods, and how to read CAD drawings, with progression across modules as you move through the business.

Qualifications

• Lantra 12d accreditation TTMBC, 12d (M1, M2)
• Lantra 12a/b accreditation
• Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works
• Ability to read CAD drawings
• UK Driving License (valid)

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in all traffic management methods including Give and Take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, portable signals, convoy working, lane closures, diversions.
• Understand safe working methods and best practice procedures.
• Learn to carry out risk assessments and method statements for traffic works.
• Ensure activities follow established procedures and report areas for improvement to line manager.
• Assist with daily vehicle checks to maintain safety and cleanliness.
• Promote a positive company image through attire, attitude and site cleanliness.
• Assist the public and guide them through safe site lines when required.

Description

As a Trainee Traffic Management Operative, you will be required to work on Traffic Management Schemes for a range of projects in order to gain the experience needed. You will work alongside qualified operatives, helping them to ensure jobs run smoothly and efficiently to achieve maximum production in a working day, whilst maintaining a high Health and Safety standard. This role requires flexibility due to the nature of the business. GTM will provide the relevant training to upskill as you move along the business within the various modules.

Compensation: £33,046 - £36,351 / year

Good rates of pay and overtime also available.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain experience in all methods of traffic management; Give and take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, Portable traffic signals, Convoy working, Road closures, Lane closures and diversions
• Understand safe working methods and best practice procedures
• Learn how to carry out risk assessments and method statements on works involving traffic management
• Ensure that all activities associated with the job are carried out according to laid down procedures where possible. Identify areas that can be improved and report to your line manager
• Assist with daily vehicle checks – to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of vehicle and the safety of the driver and passenger
• Promote a positive company image whilst at work (via wearing of company clothing, attitude, and site cleanliness)
• Be happy to assist the public, directing them through safe site lines when required

Experience and Qualifications

• Mechanical ability in relation to Traffic Lights
