Job summary

Network Plus is recruiting a Trainee Traffic Management Operative in Exeter. You will support senior operatives on traffic management schemes and gain hands-on experience across multiple modules, with training provided to progress to higher roles within the company.

The role suits candidates who enjoy outdoor, physical work. Training will upskill you, and there are opportunities to move into operational management paths. Good pay and overtime are available.

Qualifications

• Lantra 12d accreditation (TTMBC, 12d) preferred.
• Lantra 12a/b accreditation preferred.
• Chapter 8 and Safety at Street Works knowledge required.
• Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in all methods of traffic management: Give/Take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, portable signals, convoy working, road/lane closures and diversions.
• Understand safe working methods and best practice procedures.
• Learn to carry out risk assessments and method statements for traffic management works.
• Ensure activities follow laid down procedures; report improvement areas to line manager.
• Assist with daily vehicle checks to ensure cleanliness and safety of vehicles and occupants.
• Promote a positive company image through attire, attitude and site cleanliness.
• Assist the public, directing them through safe site lines when required.

Trainee Traffic Management Operative

Compensation: £33,046 - £36,351 / year

Description

As a Trainee Traffic Management Operative, you will be required to work on Traffic Management Schemes for a range of projects in order to gain the experience needed. You will work alongside qualified operatives, helping them to ensure jobs run smoothly and efficiently to achieve maximum production in a working day, whilst maintaining a high Health and Safety standard. This role requires flexibility due to the nature of the business. GTM will provide the relevant training to upskill as you move along the business within the various modules.

This type of role will suit someone who is used to or enjoys working outside in a physical role. The role will give you the opportunity to start in a trainee role and work up through the business. The initial training will give you the skills to become a qualified Traffic Management Operative. There is then the opportunity to continue into Operational management roles within the business.

Good rates of pay and overtime also available.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain experience in all methods of traffic management; Give and take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, Portable traffic signals, Convoy working, Road closures, Lane closures and diversions
• Understand safe working methods and best practice procedures
• Learn how to carry out risk assessments and method statements on works involving traffic management
• Ensure that all activities associated with the job are carried out according to laid down procedures where possible. Identify areas that can be improved and report to your line manager
• Assist with daily vehicle checks – to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of vehicle and the safety of the driver and passenger
• Promote a positive company image whilst at work (via wearing of company clothing, attitude, and site cleanliness)
• Be happy to assist the public, directing them through safe site lines when required

• Mechanical ability in relation to Traffic Lights
• You must have a valid UK Driving License
