Job summary

Braintree District Council is seeking a Trainee Revenues Officer to join the team and study for the IRRV qualification. You will work with experienced Revenues Officers while completing the IRRV qualification, handling enquiries and debt recovery tasks.

The role combines team collaboration with independent work and offers career development in local government finances. You will support the Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debtor processes, undertake inspections, and engage with court

Qualifications

• Willingness to study IRRV qualification.
• Strong numeracy and data skills.
• Experience in a financial setting and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Handle general and complex enquiries via telephone and in person.
• Issue and dispatch demand and recovery notices, invoices and summonses.
• Maintain Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debtor databases.
• Undertake property inspections and process recovery proceedings.
• Liaise with bailiffs and credit agencies on debt recovery.
• Provide year end assistance with Revenues, Recovery and NDR accounts.
