Job summary

Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is recruiting Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners for the BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire Talking Therapies services. The role combines university study for a PGCert/degree and three days of clinical practice in Swindon, Devizes or Salisbury.

You will start on Band 4 with progression to Band 5 after successful qualification, delivering low‑intensity CBT interventions for mild to moderate anxiety and depression while completing essential

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or evidence of successful study at RFQ Level 5 or 6
• Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or psychological therapy
• Experience of working in Talking Therapies or Primary Care services
• Experience delivering care with diverse communities and ensuring inclusive practice

Responsibilities

• Accept referrals via service protocols and assess suitability.
• Provide self-management support for mild to moderate mental health problems.
• Deliver information and guidance on high-volume low-intensity treatments (e.g., guided self-help CBT).
• Attend training elements and complete university‑level study days as part of the programme.
