Job summary

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is offering a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) role across Dorset, within NHS Talking Therapies. The successful candidate will work in a low‑intensity team, providing assessments and CBT‑based guided self‑help, while training with the University of Exeter.

The programme blends university study with service work, requiring two days per week of face‑to‑face interventions and office time.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a mental health setting.
• Strong communication and liaison skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle as travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Take initial patient assessments and provide treatment to support people with mild to moderate mental health problems.
• Provide phone, online, and face-to-face support; carry out risk assessments.
• Liaise with housing, Community Mental Health Team, and employment services; signpost referrals.
• Receive regular clinical supervision and undertake training as part of the trainee programme.
