Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Group in Christchurch is seeking a Trainee Pre-production Engineer to translate customer drawings into workable production plans. The role includes comprehensive on-the-job training and a clear path toward becoming a Pre-production Engineer.

You’ll gain experience in estimating, planning manufacturing processes and handling supplier queries, with a 39-hour week and a generous holiday allowance offering work–life balance.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or hands-on manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Good numerical and analytical skills with high accuracy.
• Organised, detail-focused and keen to develop a career in engineering.
• Exposure to CNC machining, fabrication or welding (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Learn to prepare cost estimates and quotations from customer specifications, drawings and BOMs.
• Support the planning of manufacturing processes, routing and material requirements.
• Assist with customer queries on technical, specification and delivery requirements; gather supplier pricing, lead times and material availability.
• Reviewing drawings and BOMs to help spot manufacturing risks and cost implications.
