Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Agency is helping a Christchurch-based manufacturer recruit a Trainee Pre-production Engineer. The role trains you to turn customer drawings into workable production plans and offers on-the-job development and a structured career path.

You'll join a 39-hour week with a half-day Friday, 31 days holiday, enhanced pension, life cover, and extra benefits such as eye tests and cycle to work. Training will progress toward a full engineering role.

Qualifications

• An engineering qualification (or working towards one), or some hands-on manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, or a strong willingness to learn.
• Good numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Organised, detail-focused and keen to develop a career in engineering.
• Exposure to CNC machining, fabrication or welding processes (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Learning to prepare cost estimates and quotations from customer specifications, drawings and BOMs.
• Supporting the planning of manufacturing processes, routing and material requirements.
• Assisting with customer queries on technical, specification and delivery requirements.
• Gathering supplier pricing, lead times and material availability.
• Reviewing drawings and BOMs to help spot manufacturing risks and cost implications.
