Job summary

YTL UK is seeking a motivated individual to join as a Trainee Planner. You will shadow experienced Planners, work with Project Managers and various teams, and progressively take responsibility for planning activities while undergoing structured training across Primavera P6 and NEC4 frameworks.

You will travel to project sites across the Wessex Water region, gaining practical exposure to diverse projects and delivery stages within YTL Construction UK.

Qualifications

• Curious, organised and motivated to build a career in project planning.
• Willing to undertake a relevant Level 3 or higher qualification in engineering, construction, project controls or related discipline.
• Willing to complete CSCS or EUSR Site Visitor requirements where required.
• No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Shadow an experienced Planner and learn how programmes are developed, maintained and reviewed.
• Undertake Primavera P6 training and apply learning through supervised programme development and reporting.
• Assist with preparing, maintaining and analysing project schedules.
• Develop understanding of programme logic, critical path, float, dependencies, constraints and delay mitigation.
• Support monthly programme updates and data reporting.
• Attend project and site meetings to understand progress measurement and updates.
• Engage with multiple departments to understand the wider project delivery process.
• Prepare programme summaries, lookaheads and milestone variance reports.
• Follow baseline-management and change-control processes.
• Gain understanding of NEC4 programme requirements, Power BI reporting and monthly reporting cycle.
• Identify emerging risks, constraints and data-quality issues and escalate as needed.
• Use standard planning templates and Primavera P6 coding structures for consistent reporting.
