Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Payroll Officer to join our team.

Main duties of the job
  1. Ensure the prompt and accurate payment of salaries and wages to employees paid by the Department.
  2. Liaise with HR, Finance, and Managers to ensure appointment, variation, and termination forms are correctly completed and authorised before data entry into ESR.
  3. Follow procedures and time scales for monthly payroll processing.
  4. Analyse data regarding maternity, paternity, and adoption leave requests, assess entitlements, calculate dues, and enter data into ESR, ensuring correct deductions and payments.
  5. Ensure correct processing of Trust, AFC, Whitley Council, Statutory Sick Pay, and Injury Benefit payments.
  6. Calculate over-payments, communicate with individuals for repayment, and process these in ESR.

Job responsibilities
  1. Calculate manual emergency payments, ensuring correct statutory and pension deductions.
  2. Adhere to Trust, AFC, Whitley Council, Statutory, and Pension Regulations at all times.
  3. Record accurate pension information promptly.
  4. Handle written and verbal queries efficiently from employees, managers, and external bodies.
  5. File all documentation accurately and promptly.
  6. Provide cover during absences of other pay clerks as directed by Senior Payroll Officers.
