Severfield is seeking a Trainee Paintshop Operative for the Dalton Site, Thirsk. No prior painting experience is required as full training will be provided to develop skills in protective coatings for structural steelwork.

You will learn to operate equipment safely, follow coating specifications, and contribute to high-quality finished products meeting industry standards.

Qualifications

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to work safely and follow instructions.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to a busy manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering or production environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsabilités

• Assist with the preparation of steelwork prior to painting and coating application.
• Learn how to inspect steel surfaces and identify preparation requirements.
• Support the application of protective coatings using a range of tools and equipment.
• Assist with masking and unmasking components as required.
• Learn how to check coating quality and thickness against specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment within the paintshop.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Handle materials and equipment safely and responsibly.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors and other departments to meet production targets.
• Participate fully in training and development activities to build competence within the role.

As a Trainee Paintshop Operative, you will work alongside experienced colleagues and receive on-the-job training in the preparation and application of protective coatings to structural steelwork.
