Job summary

Severfield in Bridgwater is seeking a Coatings Operative to apply protective coatings to specification on the Hinkley Point C project. This role focuses on surface preparation, coating application, masking and overcoat timing on structural steelwork.

You will hold OPITO Level 1 Blaster/Sprayer, Train the Painter – Protective Coatings Applicator, ICATS Protective Coatings Applicator, and ECITB Skills Test qualifications, with at least two years of relevant experience. Excellent benefits apply.

Qualifications

• OPITO Level 1 Blaster/Sprayer required.
• Train the Painter – Protective Coatings Applicator completed.
• ICATS Protective Coatings Applicator qualification.
• ECITB Skills Test Alternative / Skills Test Number: TICA-A01 / TICA-P01.

Responsibilities

• Check steel adequacy from blast profile and surface cleanliness for the application of protective products.
• Check wet coat thickness.
• Check specification to ensure correct product and masking details and overcoat periods.
• Apply coatings using correct equipment.
• Demask steel after applying coating.
• Clean line and equipment.
