Job summary

Specsavers in Cockermouth is opening a brand-new store in January 2027 and is recruiting a Trainee Optical Assistant. No long lists of qualifications are required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

You will receive comprehensive training and support from experienced Opticians and Technicians to build a rewarding career in optical retail. The role offers full-time or part-time flexibility, competitive hourly pay, and extensive development opportunities across the business, including

Qualifications

• Passion for providing excellent customer service.
• Teamworking and collaboration.
• Confident with IT tools and systems.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to adapt and develop in a fast-changing environment.
• Experience in a fast-paced retail setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with eyewear and lens services.
• Support Opticians and Technicians as needed.
• Learn and follow store processes and training pathways.
• Contribute to a positive, welcoming store environment.
