Whitworth Bros Ltd is recruiting a Trainee Production Technician at the Whitley Bridge site. The role offers hands-on training across flour milling, FHT plants, and the complete journey from raw materials to finished products.

Starting with a 40-hour week, the training spans a four-year programme combining practical work with online study. The position leads to a long-term career in milling, with shift work as training progresses.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and complete UK Flour Millers Correspondence Course Examinations.
• Ability to study while undergoing training and coursework.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Honesty, integrity and reliability in performing duties.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Test and certify flour to meet customer specifications.
• Support site operations and covering duties as trained.
• Conduct HACCP, CCP and food safety checks.
• Ensure production requirements and orders are met across the milling process.
• Maximise efficiency of Flour Heat Treatment plants and mills.
• Minimise downtime by addressing breakdowns and implementing fixes.
• Assist with cleaning schedules and daily checks.
• Carry out weekly Health & Safety audits and stock recording.
