Job summary

Special Testing Ltd, part of the Special Steel Group, invites applications for a Trainee Mechanical Test Technician. This full-time role is based at our modernised facility in the UK, with Monday–Friday hours and paid overtime as required.

You will learn to perform tensile, impact and hardness tests under supervision and build skills across laboratory processes. The company supports early development with funded external education and potential internal transfers for career progression.

Qualifications

• Interest in STEM subjects and a good foundation in maths and English.
• Physics is preferred but not mandatory.

Special Testing Ltd is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies and is one of the leading steel testing laboratories in the country.We want to expand and strengthen our current great testing team with the appointment of a full-time Trainee Mechanical Test Technician.You will have the chance to learn directly from experts, under supervision, how to conduct various tests such as tensile, impact and hardness using our state-of-the-art equipment and record and report test results.For the right candidate there may also be the opportunity to train in other departments with the prospect of internal transfer for further development. Skills RequiredWe are looking for a person with a keen interest in the STEM subjects. As a minimum, you will have good school results in maths and English and preferably Physics.
