Job summary

Chartsign Limited is seeking a Materials Testing Technician to ensure product quality and compliance through metallurgical and mechanical testing in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

You will operate optical microscopes, hardness testers and radiographic tools, interpret engineering drawings, and record results with Excel. Destructive testing, weld inspection, and CSWIP qualifications are highly desirable, with Level 3 qualification in engineering preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in engineering, science, or welding.
• Experience with destructive testing and radiography preferred.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical and mechanical testing on components.
• Operate testing equipment (optical microscopes, hardness testers, radiographic tools).
• Record results and prepare reports to ISO 16949/ISO 14001 standards.

Job description

Join a forward-thinking team as a Materials Testing Technician and play a vital role in ensuring product quality and compliance. Using advanced metallurgical and mechanical testing equipment such as optical microscopes, hardness testers, and radiographic analysis tools, you will assess components in line with engineering specifications and standards including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001. Your expertise in metallurgical knowledge of steel and aluminium, combined with your ability to interpret engineering drawings, will drive accurate testing and quality assurance processes.

We value skill in destructive testing techniques, visual weld inspections, ultrasonic testing, and radiography, alongside a solid understanding of health and safety protocols and lab practices like 5S and COSHH. Your computer literacy in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint will support detailed reporting. Previous experience with welding inspection, CT scans, ultrasonic equipment, or CSWIP qualifications are highly desirable.
