Job description

Rapier Employment seeks an Engineer for a permanent, full-time role based in Cannock, with a salary between £29,120 and £40,000 per annum. This position involves repairing, refurbishing, and manufacturing induction coils and related equipment.

The successful candidate will work both in the workshop and at customer sites, handling installation and maintenance tasks.

The role requires a hands‑on approach and strong problem-solving abilities, as the workload varies daily.

Key skills include mechanical aptitude and a willingness to travel.

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:30, totalling 40 hours per week.

Trainee Mechanical Engineer

Location: Cannock

Starting Pay: £12.71 per hour (with regular increases as skills and responsibilities develop).

What We're Looking For

• A strong interest in mechanical engineering
• Experience repairing cars, motorcycles, machinery, bicycles or similar equipment would be advantageous
• Someone who enjoys taking things apart and understanding how they work
• Practical hands‑on skills and a willingness to learn
• Good problem‑solving ability
• Reliable and committed attitude
• Driving licence desirable but not essential, as occasional work may be carried out at customer sites

Duties

• Assisting with the manufacture and refurbishment of specialist mechanical equipment
• Supporting installation, maintenance and repair projects
• Using hand and power tools
• Fault finding and problem solving
• Working alongside experienced engineers to develop technical skills
• Occasional travel to customer locations to support site‑based work
