Job summary

As a Trainee Lifeguard and Surf Coach at The Wave, you’ll play a vital role in delivering safe, unforgettable surf experiences. You’ll be responsible for maintaining high water safety standards, supporting surf operations and delivering excellent customer service on and off the lake.

This hands-on role requires vigilance, confidence and clear communication in a fast-paced environment. You will train through our funded RLSS NVBLQ Lifeguard course and join a Surf England Level 1 coaching pathway.

Qualifications

• Commit to 28 hours per week fixed-term contract through 2026 season.
• Complete 6‑day RLSS NVBLQ Lifeguard course at Porthcawl.
• Pass timed swim: 400m in 7.5 minutes.
• Willing to work weekends and school holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety of lake users through active supervision and lifeguard rotations.
• Deliver professional lifeguarding duties in line with standards.
• Carry out equipment checks and ensure rescue-ready safety gear.
• Respond to incidents, administer first aid, and complete reports.
• Support surf operations including customer check-in and equipment handling.
• Communicate clearly with surfers, hosts and the Surf Ops team.
• Deliver high-quality surf lessons in line with coaching standards.
• Provide constructive feedback to support surfer progression.
