Job summary

The Wave in Bristol is recruiting for a Trainee Lifeguard to complete the RLSS Beach Lifeguard Training Course. This six-day program runs in May 2024, with the aim of offering a guaranteed seasonal lifeguard role for the 2024 season and potential progression to Surf Coaching courses.

You will join as a Wavemaker for the summer, gaining experience with a diverse range of beach visitors and working alongside surf coaches to maintain safety and provide emergency support.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience or aptitude.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with visitors.
• Attention to detail and safety-minded approach.
• Must be a strong swimmer with endurance.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safety of all visitors.
• Championing health and safety.
• Contributing to The Wave's proactive safety culture.
• Being vigilant and confidently addressing rule violations.
• Identifying and addressing visitors not following rules and safety procedures.
• Working with surf coaches to provide emergency medical aid and water response.
• Collaborating with the wider Surf Ops team to keep the department running smoothly.
