Job summary

JP Engineering in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire is seeking a Trainee Land Surveyor to join our busy construction team. This is ideal for someone at the start of their career, including graduates or those with up to 12 months surveying experience.

You'll receive practical training from experienced surveyors and work on live projects, learning to set out, take measurements, use GPS, Total Stations and laser levels, and develop site procedures for future progression.

Qualifications

• This role welcomes graduates or those with up to 12 months surveying experience.
• Interest in land surveying, construction or civil engineering requested.
• Full UK driving licence or near to obtaining one is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with setting out and surveying on construction sites.
• Learning to use GPS, Total Stations and laser levels.
• Taking accurate measurements and recording site data.
• Setting out foundations, drainage, structures and other works.
• Working with drawings, coordinates and site plans.
• Supporting senior surveyors with daily site activities.
• Carrying out checks and assisting with as-built surveys.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Land Surveyor to join a busy construction team in the Peterhead area. This is an ideal opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career, whether you're a recent graduate, have some construction experience or have up to 12 months' surveying experience.

You'll receive practical training and guidance from experienced surveyors while gaining hands-on experience across live construction projects.

Your training will include

• Assisting with setting out and surveying on construction sites
• Learning how to use GPS, Total Stations and laser levels
• Taking accurate measurements and recording site data
• Setting out foundations, drainage, structures and other works
• Working with engineering drawings, coordinates and site plans
• Supporting senior surveyors with daily site activities
• Carrying out checks and assisting with as-built surveys
• Developing your understanding of construction surveying and site procedures

You'll ideally have:

• An interest in land surveying, construction or civil engineering
• A methodical approach and strong attention to detail
• Good numeracy and problem-solving skills
• A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
• The ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites
• Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
• Up to 12 months' relevant experience is welcomed but not required
• A full UK driving licence, or be close to obtaining one
