Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is hiring Trainee Linesperson – OHL in Scotland. This role offers hands-on learning to build and maintain high-voltage overhead transmission lines from 132kV to 400kV, with on-site training and progression into a full career within the OHL sector.

Ideal for those starting in the power industry, you will work as part of an experienced OHL gang, develop practical skills, and may undertake college learning through an apprenticeship route, while traveling across the UK.

Qualifications

• Keen to learn and develop a career in OHL.
• Comfortable with the prospect of working at height.
• Safety-focused and responsible.
• Great team players with good communication skills.
• Flexible and willing to travel and work across the UK.
• Holders of a full clean driving licence.
• Previous construction or power industry experience would be an advantage, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of an experienced OHL gang.
• Learning how to build and maintain high-voltage overhead transmission lines from 132kV to 400kV.
• Developing practical skills in OHL equipment, tools and working methods.
• Learning safe climbing and working-at-height techniques.
• Supporting lifting, lowering, fittings and wiring activities.
• Following safe systems of work, method statements and OHL procedures.
• Developing your knowledge and skills with the aim of progressing your career within OHL.
• Completing relevant college learning and qualifications if joining through the apprenticeship route.
