NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. This is a fixed-term position of 36 months.
The shift pattern is Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Applicants should have at least a First or Upper Second Class BSc Honours Degree in Genetics or a related biological subject to qualify for the NHS Scotland postgraduate training scheme in Genomics and Molecular Pathology.
The training is delivered by the Laboratory Genetics department at the West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine, based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The department offers high-quality genetics services, testing for inherited and acquired genetic diseases, including malignancies. The training follows an established framework, culminating in a portfolio for assessment and registration as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC.
One position is available for training in Molecular Pathology supported by NHS Education for Scotland (NES). Additional posts are advertised separately. The training begins in September 2025, with a three-year contract. NHS Healthcare Science careers are well-structured, with ongoing professional development encouraged.
