The role will support the finance manager with finance-related matters within real estate development projects at Mace. It offers hands-on training from the finance manager and potential for future ACCA studies. This position is suitable for someone seeking a career in finance, returning to work, or exploring a new career path. Responsibilities include:

  • Accounting and reporting for the development sector.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts under supervision.
  • Posting sales invoices and assisting with accounts payable queries.
  • Ensuring invoices are linked to correct project numbers.
  • Managing weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Setting up intercompany transfers.
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining financial controls.
  • Collaborating with the group finance team on intercompany accounts.
  • Supporting the preparation of financial reports and year-end accounts.
  • Liaising with company secretary, treasury, and tax teams as needed.
  • Maintaining finance records and assisting in audits.
  • Supporting cash flow forecasts and budget preparations.
  • Assisting in liaising with third-party accountants and reviewing outsourced deliverables.
  • Progressing studies towards ACCA qualification.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • English and Mathematics GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
  • A-level standard qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Respectful and inclusive attitude.
  • Ownership and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership qualities and commitment to delivery.
  • Data analysis skills and systematic working approach.
  • Interest in real estate development.

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Basic accounting knowledge from formal study or experience.
  • Experience with accounting systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Formal foundation level accountancy training (ACCA F1, F2, F3), AAT, or similar.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
