Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Trainee Emergency Practitioner in the Urgent Treatment Centre. This permanent position offers progression from band 6 to band 7 with structured on‑the‑job training and supervision by experienced emergency practitioners.

You will undertake the minor injury/illness programme, gain WECC qualifications, and develop skills in triage, plastering, wound care and patient education, with peripatetic learning and flexible

Qualifications

• Qualified Nurse, Midwife (Degree/Diploma) or Allied Health Professional
• Current NMC or HCPC registration
• Evidence of supporting learners in practice
• To undertake and gain WECC Minors Emergency Practitioner qualification or equivalent
• Experience working in an emergency care setting
• ILS and PILS
• Up to date knowledge of current guidelines relating to emergency care
• Experience of supervising/mentoring staff in an emergency care setting
• Evidence of on-going personal and professional development
• Broad awareness of wider Trust initiatives / pressures

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the clinical, nursing, consultant and advanced clinical practitioner team in emergency care.
• Competent in wound closure, plastering, triage and patient health promotion.
• Involvement in quality improvement, education and change management.
• Flexible to work shifts from 07:30 to 22:30 including weekends and public holidays.
