Job summary

The Forward Trust is offering a Trainee Recovery Support Practitioner role at HMP Onley in Rugby. This permanent traineeship combines practical hands-on experience with mentoring and supervision to develop skills in recovery support and care planning.

You will shadow experienced colleagues, undertake a national qualification, and work within multi-disciplinary teams to support service users through 1:1 sessions and group activities.

Qualifications

• Understanding needs of vulnerable adults in recovery; experience with offending or homelessness.
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Good organisational and communication skills; maintain professional boundaries.
• Commitment to achieving a nationally recognised qualification.
• If in recovery, at least two years abstinence from all substances.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage a caseload effectively.
• Review care and treatment with healthcare professionals.
• Co-facilitate groups and programmes to required standards.

• Collect and record information for audits and reporting.
• Carry out risk, initial and comprehensive assessments.

Job description

Location: HMP Onley, Rugby. Please note that this location is rural, therefore, access to your own transport is essential for this role.

Salary : A GBP 23,200 per annum

Vacancy Type: Permanent

We are looking for a motivated and committed Trainee Recovery Support Practitioner to join our team and develop the knowledge, skills and practical experience required to build a rewarding career supporting people in recovery.

As part of the traineeship, you will work alongside experienced members of the team, shadowing colleagues and receiving guidance, mentoring and support as you develop your skills. You will receive the training and development needed to become competent and confident in the role, with regular reviews to ensure you remain on track to successfully complete your traineeship.

You will also undertake external supervision as part of the programme. A key part of the traineeship will be balancing practical, hands:on experience with study towards a nationally recognised qualification, subject to eligibility criteria.

Throughout the traineeship, you will have the opportunity to develop skills and experience in:

• Planning and managing a caseload effectively.
• Reviewing ongoing care and treatment and liaising closely with healthcare professionals and other agencies.
• Co:facilitating groups and programmes to the required standard.
• Working effectively within multi:disciplinary and integrated teams.
• Collecting and recording information and data for audit, research and reporting purposes.
• Carrying out risk, initial and comprehensive assessments to inform treatment journeys and interventions based on individual client needs.
• Supporting individuals through 1:1 sessions and group work or programme facilitation.
• Contributing to the throughcare needs of service users and supporting them to develop recovery plans appropriate to their individual needs.
• Undertaking other reasonable tasks and responsibilities as agreed with Line Management.

You Will Need

• An understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults in recovery, with experience of previous offending or homelessness.
• An understanding of the principles of equal opportunity and client confidentiality.
• The ability to manage your own workload effectively and work to deadlines and targets.
• The ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• A commitment to completing a nationally recognised qualification, subject to eligibility criteria.
• If applicable, if you are in recovery from addiction, you must have maintained over two years abstinence from all substances and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining your recovery.

You do not need to have all the answers from day one. What matters is your willingness to learn, your commitment to your own development and your passion for supporting people on their recovery journey. Full training, mentoring and supervision will be provided throughout the traineeship.
