Job summary

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a trainee Dialectical Behavioural Therapist at Band 6 AfC level. The role includes undertaking a post graduate diploma in DBT and progression to Band 7 upon accreditation.

The post focuses on completing the DBT diploma in the first two years, delivering a full DBT programme under supervision. The successful applicant will have RMN or equivalent qualification, be registered with a regulatory body, and have experience delivering

Qualifications

• RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification at degree level post 1993 and registration with a regulatory body.
• Experience delivering psychologically informed interventions to people with severe mental health problems in a secondary care setting.
• Completed DBT training with a licensed DBT training provider (Foundation or Intensive) or other recognised DBT training (Essential Skills 2 days or TEWV Introduction to DBT).
• Willingness to engage in further study towards eventual accreditation as a DBT therapist.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive DBT programme including pre-treatment, individual DBT therapy, DBT skills training group and inter-session coaching.
• Manage high risk assessments and crisis intervention with safeguarding.
• Engage in weekly DBT consult team and MDT collaboration, with specialist guidance.
• Provide leadership, supervision, governance, service evaluation and maintain records.

We are seeking to appoint a trainee Dialectical Behavioural Therapist at Band 6 AfC level. The role will involve undertaking a post graduate diploma in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. The offer of post to the successful applicant will be contingent on acceptance on an accredited training course. On achieving accreditation, the post holder would be upgraded to a Band 7 Psychological Therapist role and salary., The post will focus in the first 2 years on undertaking the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy post graduate diploma, as a DBT therapist in training the role will involve carrying out the following tasks under close supervision. 1. Applicants will be required to have either RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification at degree level post 1993 and be registered with a professional regulatory body. They will have experience of delivering psychologically informed interventions to people experiencing severe mental health problems in a secondary care setting. They will be required to have a strong demonstrable interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and to have completed DBT training with a licenced DBT training provider to either Foundation (five days) or Intensive (10 days) level. We would also consider applicants with Essential Skills (2 day) training or TEWV Introduction to DBT (3 day) training. A willingness to engage in further study and practice towards eventual accreditation as a DBT therapist is essential. During training, placement outside the Scarborough locality may be required.
