Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Trainee Retinal Screener Grader to join the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Diabetic Eye Screening Programme. The role delivers high-quality screening and grading across the area to detect diabetic retinopathy and reduce blindness.

The post includes undertaking the mandatory Level 3 diploma in Health Screening; salary starts on Band 3 and increases to Band 4 on diploma completion.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work without direct supervision, often under pressure.
• Ability to handle patient images and data securely and efficiently.
• Flexible to cover sites throughout Doncaster and Bassetlaw.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high quality screening and grading service across the Doncaster and Bassetlaw area.
• Ensure early detection of sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy and reduction of blindness.
• Support department to meet National Quality Standards and KPIs.
• Handle patient images and data and prioritise time to meet national standards.
