We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Desktop Investigator in the United Kingdom.

Home Investigations is a key part of Sedgwick, offering tailored, cost-effective fraud prevention. We don’t use a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, we rely on skilled people to assess potentially fraudulent claims. The work is varied, challenging, and never dull. As we grow, we’re looking for new talent to join our team.

The Trainee Desktop Investigator handles claims for a few clients using conversation management via video and telephone. You need to be a confident communicator and comfortable with technology. The role includes ongoing support and coaching, with a focus on developing skills in fraud investigation.

You will manage domestic claims identified as potentially suspect, conducting investigations, enquiries, and validation activities. Proactivity is essential, maintaining contact with policyholders and ensuring accuracy. You’ll work with stakeholders to validate claims and may liaise with the police for swift settlements.

Responsibilities include staying updated on legislation, issuing repudiation and fraud outcome letters, handling complaints within FCA guidelines, and using data and technology to identify and manage fraud. You will report fraudulent activity to relevant bodies.

If you’re passionate about combatting fraud, adaptable, and enjoy delivering excellent service, we’d love to hear from you. We offer ongoing development and the opportunity to work from home.

The skills you will have when you apply:
  • Claims experience or wider insurance industry experience.
  • Qualification: Ideally Cert CILA or Cert CII qualified.
  • A working knowledge of industry standards and detection benchmarks.
  • Some technical knowledge of home insurance policies and documentation.
  • Some experience of investigating fraudulent claims and/or experience in handling a portfolio of general domestic/commercial claims with an interest in fraud.
  • An understanding of the role of the IFB, IFIG & IFED & the ability to refer cases that hit the evidential threshold would be beneficial.
  • Prior conversation management experience is desirable.
What we’ll give you for this role:

Remuneration & more

  • Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications
  • A Self Invested Personal Pension Scheme (SIPP)
  • Holiday allowance of 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Flexible working from our office or your home

  • Life assurance
  • Employee assistance programme for employee wellbeing

  • Employee assistance programme for employee wellbeing
  • Discounts on various products and services
