Job description

Join to apply for the Trainee Dental Technician (XR02) role at Leeds Dental Institute.

Job Summary

Training Contract - Recruitment to this position is subject to funding.

We are recruiting motivated, dedicated, and caring individuals with an eye for detail for the role of Trainee Dental Technician. This is a part-time (30 hours per week), fixed-term training course over 4 days, offering the opportunity to train as a valued member of the Dental Team, working alongside qualified dental technicians to produce dental devices from dentists' prescriptions.

The post runs from 15th July 2025 to 30th June 2028, with training at Leeds Dental Institute, supervised by qualified Dental Technician Tutors. You will also undertake work placements at commercial dental laboratories. Upon successful completion, you will receive a BTEC Extended Diploma in Dental Technology, enabling registration as a Dental Care Professional with the GDC.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 16 years old.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English Language, Maths, and Science. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths are accepted.

Applicants shortlisted will attend an interview, a 1-hour practical assessment, and a 30-minute written task.

Main duties include:

  • Undertaking routine technical duties within departmental procedures.
  • Processing documentation, entering information into IT systems, and constructing basic dental devices under supervision.
