Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking staff for the Cowlairs Central Decontamination Unit to undertake decontamination, assembly, inspection and sterilisation of reusable medical devices. Full training provided; role supports multi-skilled development toward Assistant Technical Officer.

The position is permanent, 36 hours, with specific shift patterns; employment is within NHSGGC and does not offer visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Completion of training in CDU/SSD equipment operation and procedures.
• Knowledge of decontamination processes and reusable medical devices.
• Understanding of washer disinfectors and sterilisers.

Responsibilities

• Support safe decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devices.
• Inspect, assemble and package instruments with traceability.
• Operate washer disinfectors, sterilisers and related equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
• Work across decontamination, assembly/check/packaging and sterilisation zones.
