Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Trainee Clinical Coder (Band 3) to join the Clinical Coding team at Maglona House, Carlisle. The role involves extracting diagnoses and procedures from health records and coding with ICD-10 and OPCS-4, feeding data into the PAS, and following National Clinical Coding Standards.

Subject to qualification, eligibility for Band 4 will be achieved after the 2-3 year programme.

Qualifications

• GCSE English, maths and biology, including human anatomy and physiology or equivalent.
• Essential IT skills (EITS) or equivalent.
• NHS Digital Coding Foundation Certificate
• IHRIM ACC Qualification

Responsibilities

• Extract diagnoses and procedures from health records and code using ICD-10 and OPCS-4.
• Input codes onto the Patient Administration System using encoding software.
• Follow National Clinical Coding Standards to produce data for analysis.
• On-site placement with potential for home working as systems develop.
