Trainee CBT Therapist: Hybrid Training on BABCP Path

Job summary

Nottingham City Council is recruiting two Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapists to join our team and undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Derby starting January 2027. The appointed candidates will work within Nottingham City Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) with training blocks and weekly supervision, including travel to Derby.

The course is Level 2 BABCP-accredited; you will meet criteria to apply for provisional BABCP accreditation upon completion.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification; e.g. social work, nursing or a core qualification as defined in BABCP.
• Direct experience as a practitioner in a children's mental health setting and/or within an education setting.
• Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions and their application to practice for a wide range of mental health presentations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to relate to children, young people, families and professionals.
• A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Derby starting January 2027 as part of the role.
• Work as part of Nottingham City Mental Health Support Teams (MHST).
• Travel to Derby for teaching blocks and supervision days.
• Meet BABCP provisional accreditation criteria upon completion.
