Job summary

Newett Homes is seeking a Trainee Buyer to join the Commercial team and start a career in procurement within housebuilding. You will learn from experienced Buyers and the Head of Procurement, gaining hands-on experience across the procurement process and how purchasing contributes to successful construction projects.

The role offers an entry level path with exposure to multiple procurement activities, site logistics, and supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above or equivalent.
• Good IT skills including Word and Excel.
• Understanding of construction materials and methods.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Full, clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Process material orders.
• Assist with scheduling of materials to meet build programmes.
• Liaise with site teams and suppliers.
• Respond to site enquiries regarding deliveries and orders.
• Support tender enquiries and tender analysis.
• Assist with schedule checking and procurement administration.
• Develop relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Regular site visits to observe material storage and usage.
• Monthly assistance with site material calculations.
