Job summary

Nottingham City Transport is recruiting Trainee Bus Drivers in Nottingham. You will train toward your PCV licence and CPC, earning from day one and rising after six months.

No prior bus driving experience is required; you’ll learn routes, vehicles, ticketing, and passenger support with an experienced driver beside you for two weeks. Trainee Bus Drivers – Earn While You Learn from £14.22 per hour, rising to £14.61 after six months | Nottingham

The role

Nottingham City Transport is looking for friendly, reliable people to join our team as Trainee Bus Drivers.

You do not need any previous bus driving experience. Our award-winning Training Team will teach you everything you need to know, and you will be paid from your first day.

Your training begins with working towards your PCV licence and CPC. You will then learn local routes, become familiar with our vehicles, use ticket machines and develop the skills needed to support every passenger.

Once you begin driving in service, an experienced driver will work alongside you for your first two weeks.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow routes, timetables and company procedures
• Operate ticketing equipment accurately
• Support passengers who may need extra assistance
• Work from Parliament Street or Trent Bridge garage when required

Our services run seven days a week, from early mornings through to late nights. You will work five days per week, including some weekends, with 39 guaranteed hours. Most shifts last between seven and nine hours, and optional overtime is available.

The person

You will need:

• A full manual UK driving licence held for at least 12 months
• No more than three penalty points
• The right to work in the UK
• Basic reading, writing and maths skills
• A friendly, patient and dependable approach
• The ability to pass a medical assessment
