Job summary

Arriva is hiring for a bus driver at our Heckmondwike depot. You will be at the heart of the community, helping commuters, shoppers and students get to their destinations safely and on time.

Starting pay ranges from £13.75 to £16.00 per hour, with progression after probation. The role includes 36 hours minimum pay, overtime opportunities, and benefits like free family bus travel and a company pension. Training and a structured development path are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
• No more than 6 points on your licence.
• Will need undergo a drug and alcohol test before your assessment.
• Great people skills.
• Shifts start as early as 4AM and can run until 1AM.

Responsibilities

• Drive buses and transport passengers safely to destinations.
• Provide friendly, helpful customer service and information.
• Ensure on-time performance and adherence to schedules.
• Complete required CPC training and ongoing development.
• Follow company policies and maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety.

Pay Rate: £13.75 - £16.00 per hour

£13.75 per hour - During training and mentoring (around 8 weeks).

£14.00 per hour - 6 months probation period.

£16.00 per hour - after successful probation completion.

Pay rates reviewed via frequent pay negotiations.

Hours of work and role:

• 5 out of 7 rotating shift pattern up to 6-8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts.
• Mornings starting from 04:00, Afternoons start from 12:00 and Evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis.
• We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately.
• Overtime available.
