Job summary

Borders Buses Berwick-upon-Tweed is hiring Trainee Bus Drivers. No prior bus driving experience is required, as training and funding will enable you to gain your PCV licence and begin a rewarding career as a professional Bus Driver.

Based at our Berwick-upon-Tweed depot, you will support local communities, serve on local routes, and grow within a safety‑conscious team. A permanent position awaits after successful qualification and licence acquisition.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or over.
• Fully qualified UK driving licence.
• At least one year of driving experience.
• Right to work in the UK for the duration of training and employment.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Professional, dependable and safety-focused approach.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel within Berwick-upon-Tweed area.

Responsibilities

• Safely and professionally operate buses on local service routes.
• Provide excellent customer service and a safe, comfortable journey for every passenger.
• Help customers reach their destinations safely and on time.
• Handle cash and card payments where required.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.
• Represent Borders Buses positively through driving, appearance and customer care.

We have a fantastic opportunity for Trainee Bus Drivers to join our friendly team at our Berwick-upon-Tweed depot.

You do not needpreviousbus-driving experience to apply. We will provide the training,supportand funding you need to gain your PCVlicenceand begin a rewarding career as a professional Bus Driver. This includes arranging and funding your theory and practical tests, subject to terms and conditions.

Working in Berwick-upon-Tweed

Based at our Berwick-upon-Tweed depot, you will help keep communities connected across North Northumberland, the Scottish Borders and beyond.

Once qualified, you will play an important role in helping local residents travel safely and reliably to work, school, appointments, the shops and other destinations.You will be part of a supportive local team in a varied role where no two days are the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

Once you have successfully completed your training and gained your PCVlicence, you will:

• Safely and professionallyoperatebuses on local service routes
• Provide excellent customer service and a safe, comfortable journey for every passenger
• Help customers reach their destinations safely and on time
• Handle cash and card payments accurately and responsibly, whererequired
• Complete daily vehicle checks andreportany defects in line with company procedures
• Work independently whilemaintaininghigh standardsof safety,reliabilityand professionalism
• Represent Borders Buses positively through your driving,appearanceand customer care

What We’re Looking For

• To be aged 18 or over
• A full UK drivinglicence
• At least one year’s driving experience
• The right to work in the UK for the duration of the training and employment
