Job summary

Meraki Talent is supporting a well-established manufacturing and production business in West Lothian to recruit a permanent Trainee Assistant Accountant. The role supports day-to-day finance functions, maintains accurate records, and assists with month-end reporting while gaining broad exposure to transactional and month-end activities.

The ideal candidate has a proactive approach, is willing to learn, and possesses experience with accounting software.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks.
• Payroll experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain supplier records and assist with the resolution of supplier queries and invoice discrepancies.
• Record daily financial transactions across accounting systems and ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Bank and ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving any variances identified.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal postings and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Maintain organised financial records and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve finance procedures, controls, and reporting processes.
• General accounting and admin support to the wider Finance team as required.
