Job summary

Lloyd's Register International invites applications for a Trainee Archaeologist role in Kemble, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. This full-time fixed-term contract offers a six-month placement with a starting salary of £27,278 and includes benefits such as pension, life insurance and paid CIfA subscription.

The program targets recent graduates or motivated entrants with an archaeology-related background, offering on-the-job training across excavation, recording, and sampling in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of archaeological periods, monuments and practice from a degree or equivalent.
• Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work with hand tools.
• Willingness to undertake away work and learn all aspects of professional archaeological practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fieldwork projects in accordance with CA procedures and industry standards.
• Compile archaeological site records using pro-forma recording sheets.
• Assist with artefact and environmental sample processing as required.
• Carry out manual excavation of features with a range of tools.
• Demonstrate broad knowledge of archaeological periods and practices; work toward trainee development.
