Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Trainee Accounts Assistant for a permanent role in the Newton le Willows area within the FMCG sector. You will assist with day-to-day financial tasks and gain hands-on experience in a busy retail finance team.

Ideal candidates have a strong interest in accounting, good numerical skills, and proficiency in Excel. The role offers AAT study support, or ACCA/CIMA progression for recent graduates, and a generous holiday allowance.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in accounting and finance within the retail sector.
• Good numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing invoices and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Support the team with bank reconciliations and ledger updates.
• Prepare and input financial data into the accounting system.
• Help with month-end reporting and account reconciliations.
• Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Respond to internal and external financial queries efficiently.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and statements.
• Work closely with the team to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
