Job summary

Michael Page is assisting a FMCG retailer in Newton-le-Willows by recruiting a Trainee Accounts Assistant to support day-to-day financial tasks and learn within a busy accounting team. You will process invoices, assist with reconciliations and month-end activities, and help prepare financial data for reporting while developing Excel and accounting knowledge.

This permanent role offers study support (AAT) or ACCA/CIMA progression, a competitive salary, and 24 days of holiday plus bank holidays to

Qualifications

• Strong interest in accounting and finance within the retail sector.
• Good numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing invoices and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Support the team with bank reconciliations and ledger updates.
• Prepare and input financial data into the accounting system.
• Help with month-end reporting and account reconciliations.
• Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Respond to internal and external financial queries efficiently.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and statements.
• Work closely with the team to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
