Job summary

Our client, a small independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Chichester, seeks a Trainee Accountant to join their expanding team. The role involves preparing accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping and cloud accounting for a mixed portfolio of clients.

Ideal candidate will be AAT qualified with 2-3 years' practice experience and a strong accounts and tax background. Study support for ACCA or ACA is available, with Xero experience advantageous, and a friendly, progressive firm culture.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification preferred, with 2-3 years in practice.
• Strong background in accounts and tax work.
• Experience with cloud accounting tools, especially Xero, is advantageous.
• Willingness to study ACCA or ACA with firm support.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for various client types.
• Prepare and submit corporation tax returns and self‑assessment for individuals.
• Review bookkeeping records and supporting documents.
• Prepare year-end working papers and schedules.
• Assist with VAT returns and tax planning opportunities.
• Support clients using cloud accounting software, notably Xero.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting and tax developments.
