Job summary

Interaction Recruitment Group is recruiting a Trainee Accountant for a growing accountancy practice in Cambridge. This role offers a clear path to build experience across VAT, CIS, Corp Tax, and management reporting with hands-on exposure to cloud-based accounting software.

You will work closely with experienced accountants, supporting the delivery of accounting services and client portfolios. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, with standard office hours and study support provided.

Qualifications

• Good foundation in accounting principles and a willingness to develop technical knowledge.
• Experience in an accountancy practice is welcome but not essential.
• GCSEs in Maths and English required.
• Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to organise workload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with VAT returns, CIS returns and Corporation Tax returns.
• Support preparation of management accounts, statutory reporting and year-end adjustments.
• Assist with company secretarial duties and general accounting administration.
• Process financial data and use accounting software to improve efficiency.
• Review accounting information for accuracy and maintain client records.
• Assist clients with accounting software, including Xero and related applications, and help with setup and training.
• Respond to client queries and provide day-to-day accounting support.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and ad hoc client projects.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet deadlines and provide accurate financial information.
• Contribute to process improvements and expand knowledge of accounting systems.
