Job summary

Xeinadin in Cambridge is offering a Trainee Accountant apprenticeship. You will begin your accountancy career as an Accounts Trainee, gaining experience across Accounts, Tax and Business Services while supporting clients with accounting software and queries.

You’ll work with a varied client base and build strong technical knowledge with opportunities to progress as your career develops. Strong math and English GCSEs, and a drive to learn are essential.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 6 required.
  • Willingness to study towards AAT and potentially ACCA/ACA/ATT/CTA.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and team skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero).
  • Assist in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Assist with the preparation of personal and corporation tax returns.
  • Assist with tax compliance tasks, including gathering data for tax returns and ensuring documents are completed on time.
  • Develop the ability to handle client queries and provide clear responses.
  • Build rapport with clients and support long-term relationships.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to gather data for tax filings and client work.
  • Attend training sessions to broaden knowledge of tax and accounting practices.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings and contribute to the team’s success.
  • Contribute to the firm’s growth by delivering excellent client service and supporting values.
  • Participate in team activities and support colleagues.

Description We are looking for a college leaver to begin their Accountancy career as an Accounts Trainee, you’ll gain experience across our Accounts, Tax and Business Services, building a broad skill set in a supportive, fast-paced environment. You’ll work with a varied client base including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, high earners, and property investors. This is a varied role involving multiple assignments and regular client interaction, including handling queries, gathering information, and supporting clients with accounting software. You’ll build strong technical knowledge alongside practical experience, with opportunities to broaden your experience as your career progresses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero).
  • Assist in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Assist with the preparation of personal and corporation tax returns.
  • Assist with tax compliance tasks, including gathering relevant data for tax returns, reviewing financial information, and ensuring that all documents are completed accurately and on time.

Key Requirements
  • Strong academic background, including a minimum Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics and Grade 6 in GCSE English.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to professional development, including studying towards AAT and potentially further qualifications (e.g. ACCA/ACA, ATT/CTA).
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a high level of motivation and energy.
  • Professional and mature approach when dealing with clients and colleagues.
