You will be responsible for supporting various areas of the Finance Team including Management Accounts, Technical & Financial Accounts, Systems and Financial Planning & Strategy. The role will be varied and will offer excellent ‘on the job training’ we will also support your professional training to achieve a recognised accountancy qualification. The opportunity

The Combined Authority is in the middle of a critical period of change and growth and we are looking to strengthen the Finance Service at such an exciting time, delivering the new emerging devolved financial management arrangements. As such we are looking for new team members to join us to help influence and shape the future of the service. Main responsibilities

• -Assist in the analysis of financial data and modelling to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• -Assist in the closure of accounts process ensuring compliance with all financial reporting requirements
• -Assist in the preparation of the revenue and capital budgets for a range of services and projects
• -Assist in the provision of budgetary control information and advice to budget holders at all levels
• -Maintenance of financial information systems
• -Assist with the completion of financial returns and preparation of performance projections and financial appraisals.
• -To carry out any other duties as requested by the Strategic Finance Manager which are commensurate with the post
• -A desire to learn and progress by undertaking training to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge for the role. This will include a discussion around how we can best support your development with a relevant qualification.

About the person

The successful candidates will have taken the first steps in the finance career and will have already registered with a CCAB body to begin their professional training. Strong numeracy and IT skills will be required as will strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take the initiative to support the delivery teams across the authority.
