Job description

Job Title: Train Cleaner

Join our team as a Train Cleaner and be responsible for all aspects of train cleaning duties. Your tasks will include exterior and interior cleaning, hoovering floors, inspecting and maintaining toilets, and more.

Working Hours

This is a 35-hour weekly role, scheduled from Sunday to Saturday, with working hours from 21:00 to 04:00.

Location and Fleet

You will be responsible for the Southern train fleet serving Surrey & Sussex. The role primarily involves interior cleaning, with occasional exterior work. You will work in teams of up to 4 cleaners, with one cleaner per 3 to 4 carriages.

Physical Requirements

The depot is sizable, requiring physical fitness for movement around the area without restrictions.

Compensation and Benefits

• £15.19 per hour, rising to £16.27 after 12 weeks due to AWR.
• Overtime rates vary: £18.22 after 36 hours, £19.74 on rest days, £22.02 on Sundays, and £30.37 on bank holidays.
• Potential for permanent employment after a 6-month contract, with opportunities for career progression into roles such as train presentation, engineering, and customer service.
