Job description

As a Train Care Operative, you will be working as part of a dedicated and hardworking team responsible for the presentation of the GWR fleet. The team ensures the interior and exterior of our contracted trains are cleaned to a high standard to deliver comfort and a great experience for our customers.

Your main responsibilities will be:
  1. Carry out all cleaning activities using chemicals and techniques in accordance with relevant manuals and specifications.
  2. Seek out ways to improve standards and flexibility within the cleaning team.
  3. Create, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships.
  4. Comply with safety standards at all times.
You'll need to be:
  1. Able to perform physically demanding cleaning duties.
  2. Capable of working independently and within a team.
  3. Able to complete tasks to a set standard and in accordance with specifications and procedures.
  4. Committed to delivering cleaning to the highest standards inside and outside our trains.
  5. Able to handle biohazards, such as blood and other bodily fluids, and dispose of sharps, discarded syringes, and razor blades safely.
As a minimum you'll need to have:
  1. NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Cleaning and Support Services, or working towards this qualification.
  2. An understanding of COSHH and Health and Safety at work.
  3. Previous experience in cleaning and/or support services.
  4. A desire to learn new skills.
Additional Information:

Vacancies will be on a permanent day shift across a 7-day rota, including weekends and Bank Holidays.

This campaign will also be used to create a reserve list for applicants to fill vacancies that may arise within the next six months.
