Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites experienced midwives to join our new Community Birth Team, helping shape the service from the outset and enabling flexible, on‑call staffing to support work‑life balance.

You will provide woman‑centred antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, advocate physiological birth, and work autonomously in the community while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Active NMC registration is required.
• UK recognised Degree in Midwifery Practice is essential.
• Current experience at Band 6 level or above is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide woman-centred antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, focusing on homebirth and stand-alone midwifery-led settings.
• Work autonomously within the community, promote physiological birth and informed choice.
• Respond to clinical changes and manage emergencies and transfers when required.
• Participate in the team’s on-call model and contribute to continuity of care.
