Job summary

Vitrux Ltd is seeking a Traffic Management Operative for an on-site role in East Kilbride. You will set up, monitor and dismantle traffic control measures to support multi-utility construction works.

Responsibilities include risk assessments, following traffic management plans and ensuring health and safety compliance, while coordinating with site teams and the public to maintain safe vehicle and pedestrian flow.

• Apply equipment checks, report hazards/incidents and keep records; contribute to safety improvements.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Traffic Management Operative role based in East Kilbride. The Traffic Management Operative will set up, monitor, and dismantle temporary traffic management systems to support construction and utility works, including signage, cones, barriers, and traffic control devices. The role involves conducting site risk assessments, following approved traffic management plans, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times. The individual will coordinate with site supervisors, utility crews, and local stakeholders to maintain safe vehicle and pedestrian flow around work sites. Daily tasks also include equipment checks, reporting hazards or incidents, keeping accurate records, and contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of traffic management principles, highway works, and safe site setup for multi-utility or civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment practices, and safe working procedures in construction environments.
• Ability to read and follow traffic management plans, site drawings, and written instructions accurately.
• Effective communication skills for working with site teams, supervisors, and the public, with a professional and respectful approach.
• Good practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail when identifying hazards and adjusting site layouts.
• Physical capability to handle equipment, work outdoors in varied weather, and perform tasks that require manual handling.
• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel between sites as required.
• Relevant traffic management, highways, or construction safety certifications (e.g., LANTRA or equivalent) are highly beneficial.
• Previous experience in traffic management, utilities, or civil engineering environments is an advantage but not essential.
