Job summary

Lanes Group is seeking a Night Depot Manager for the Sapphire Utility Solutions traffic management workstream on the Thames Water contract. The role covers Reading and Kidlington depots with a company van provided for travel between sites.

You will lead nightly operations, ensure SLA targets are met, and coordinate handovers with the Reading and Kidlington Depot Managers. This position requires a full UK driving licence and proven team leadership.

Qualifications

  • Must have full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Confident in systems and functions.
  • Experience leading and supervising a team.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily and nightly handovers between Reading and Kidlington depots.
  • Allocate all jobs after 5pm.
  • Complete On Hire/Off Hire logs for both depots.
  • Conduct night operative audits.
  • Monitor email inbox and Big Change to avoid SLA misses out of hours.
  • Ensure accurate time bookings for real-time data.
  • Notify supervisors/planners of light switch outs to councils/highways.
  • Oversee nights schedule and rosters between sites.

Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company specialise in multiple divisions.
Sapphire Traffic Management Solutions have depots across the UK. Our fleet cover high and low speed solutions supported by the in house CAD, Planning and Streetworks Team to ensure compliance and accuracy.
The Team utilise the latest technology to minimise disruption to allow works to be undertaken safely while keeping the road network moving.

Purpose of the role:

Sapphire Utility Solutions are seeking a night Depot Manager for our Traffic Management workstream on our Thames Water contract. You will work alongside the Thames Water Night Manager to ensure operations run smoothly during the nights so the transition to the day teams is effective whilst ensuring SLA's are met. For the role, you will split your time during the week between both Reading and Kidlington depots and a company van will be provided for travel.

Location:

Reading and Kidlington (travel between the two sites)

Hours:

50 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9pm-7am)

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out daily and nightly handovers with the Reading and Kidlington Depot Managers
  • Allocating all jobs after 5pm
  • Completing both depot On Hire Off Hire Logs
  • Night Operative Audits
  • Monitoring the email inbox and Big Change to ensure no SLA's are missed out of hours and late bookings for the next day to be allocated
  • Accurate time booking in so data can be caught in real time
  • Main light switch outs to be emailed to the relevant supervisor or planner and also to the councils/highways
  • Monday to Friday 16.00 to 21.00
  • OOH phone to be manned by existing OOH Manager roster
  • Saturday & Sunday Out of Hours as per Managers Roster (1 in 8 weeks)
  • Night MOS Audits
  • Health & Safety welfare calls to nights Operatives
  • Supply diversion routes to operatives
  • Creating new jobs on Big Change so as Operatives receive in real time
Key Requirements
Skill and Experience:
  • You must have a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
  • Confident in systems and functions
  • Experience of leading and supervising a team
Desirable:
  • To hold NRSWA accreditation
  • LANTRA 12ABCD
  • Holding a minimum of M6
  • Knowledge of permit schemes
