Lanes Group is seeking a Working Depot Lead for the Millbrook Depot, Southampton. This full-time role oversees depot operations, stock handling, audits, and health and safety compliance, ensuring tidy and compliant working environments.

The position involves 40.25 hours per week with a 4 nights on/4 nights off pattern from 18:00 to 06:00. Responsibilities include managing stock levels, ordering PPE, maintaining accurate records, and preparing for external audits.

Qualifications

  • Industry accreditations are required.
  • Health and Safety certifications (e.g. IOSH or First Aid) are advantageous.
  • Experience in the drainage, utilities or retail sector is beneficial.

  • Key & Asset Management: maintain logs for keys, site access, and fuel cards; ensure accountability and traceability.
  • Site Housekeeping: keep depot clean, tidy and well presented; manage parking and vehicle positioning.

Department

The Logistics Management Centre (LMC) provides wastewater tankering and treatment services across the Thames region, giving critical support to planned, routine, and resilience operations across the Thames Water network. The Tankering Division provides tanker transport of wastewater around the network to ensure it continues to operate. The Treatment Division supports the cleaning and treatment of wastewater infrastructure.

Purpose of the role

The Working Depot Lead is responsible for the efficient management of depot operations, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and distribution of materials and stock. This role includes overseeing the depot's standards, ensuring it remains tidy, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations. The Working Depot Lead will manage stock levels, order PPE, and ensure the smooth movement of materials. Additionally, the role involves conducting regular audits, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and preparing for external audits. Proactivity and escalation of any issues when needed will be a key part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Key & Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate logs for all keys, site access keys, and fuel cards.
  • Issue and retrieve keys and fuel cards, ensuring full accountability and traceability.
  • Store all assets securely and elevate any missing, damaged, or unaccounted for items.

Site Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised depot environment at all times.
  • Monitor and ensure correct parking and vehicle positioning across the site.
  • Support general site presentation, including tidiness of stores, yard areas, and communal spaces.

Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct regular audits of keys, stock, site keys, and fuel cards in line with internal procedures.
  • Identify discrepancies and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Support wider depot compliance checks and inspections as required.

Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
  • Industry accreditations are required

  • A full UK drivers licence
  • Experience in a depot, stores, or facilities role.
  • Experience with asset/stock control or auditing processes.
  • Basic IT literacy for logging, tracking, and recording information.
Desirable
  • Class 2 HGV licence is desirable
