Job summary

Calderdale Council in Halifax is seeking experienced highway engineers to drive design and delivery of road safety schemes, sustainable transport projects and public realm improvements that benefit Calderdale's residents, businesses and visitors.

Join our Traffic Engineering Team to shape the highway network, deliver TROs, liaise with elected Members and stakeholders, mentor staff, and work on schemes funded by CRSTS and related programmes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in traffic engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and local authority procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing design solutions and develop innovative and practical highway safety and improvement schemes.
• Ensuring that the Council complies with legislative requirements.
• Undertake work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress
• Provide technical advice to elected Members, colleagues and members of the public.
• Work collaboratively with internal services, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
• Mentor trainees and other staff.
• Progressing permanent and experimental Traffic Regulation Orders
